Re-Source to host inaugural charity golf tournament and auction

Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand — Local charity, Re-Source is hosting its first-ever Charity Golf Tournament and Auction, aiming to raise funds for their work in the Hawke’s Bay community. The event will take place on Friday, April 11th, at the Hawke’s Bay Golf Club.

Re-Source is Hawke’s Bay’s Resource Recovery Hub, promoting sustainability and resilience by connecting surplus household items with those in need within the community. “Our goal is to turn what some might see as extras into essentials for people who need them,” says Re-Source founder Nadine Gaunt.

The idea for the tournament was sparked by the enthusiasm of long-term Re-Source volunteer, Ali Roberts, a passionate advocate for the charity’s work. “I’ve seen firsthand how a simple act of kindness, like donating pre-loved items, can make a world of difference to someone in need,” says Ali. “This tournament is a fantastic opportunity to come together as a community and support that mission, while having a great day out.”

“Ali’s dedication to our mission is truly inspiring,” says Nadine. “We’re incredibly grateful for her support in organising this event, and we’re especially thrilled with the amazing support from local businesses who have generously donated so many fantastic prizes and auction items.”

The tournament will feature an 18-hole Ambrose format, encouraging golfers of all skill levels to participate. Businesses are encouraged to enter a team, not only to support a worthy cause, but also as a fantastic opportunity for networking and team building.

The day begins with a shotgun start at 11:30am, followed by an entertainment program featuring live music by Mahina Lawrence, a charity auction with unique items up for grabs, and a prize giving ceremony.

Registration is $250 per team of four, including a light lunch. Teams can register by visiting re-source.co.nz/golf or emailing manager@hbgolf.co.nz.

The charity auction boasts exciting items, including a round of golf for four at Cape Kidnappers Golf Course and a unique tour of Napier’s on-port kororā/little blue penguin sanctuary.

“We encourage everyone to come along, whether you’re a golfer or not,” adds Nadine. “It’s a chance to support a great cause, enjoy some fantastic entertainment, and connect with the community.”
