Mayor to hold public meeting to discuss youth crime – Invercargill City Council

A public meeting to address recent youth crime in Invercargill will be held this Saturday, April 6, at the Civic Theatre.

Invercargill City Council Mayor Nobby Clark said the purpose of the meeting was to gather input and work towards a solution.

“Our city has experienced an inappropriate level of youth crime, including property crime, stolen vehicles and assault,” Mayor Clark said.

“I am holding a community meeting that will allow those impacted to advise us of their experience and what can be done to manage these issues going forward.”

Elected members, Police, Community Patrol and MP Penny Simmonds were planning to be in attendance to hear concerns.

The meeting will be held on Saturday, April 6 at 7 pm at the Civic Theatre.
